At Design Interviews

Interview with Luca Matta : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Luca Matta : I was inspired by a very simple, brick, one of the fundamental elements of human construction .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Luca Matta : The main objective is to give the user the opportunity to build his own "habitat", his "home" starting from a single element such as brick. In particular I would like watching people play with the design by creating new sensations and emotions .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Luca Matta : I care that my product is carried out and understood by people. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Luca Matta : It took me a little time. In 2 days I was already satisfied with the idea and the concept that I had sketched on the sheet. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Luca Matta : I wish there was a company interested in making this type of product, which I think is very innovative in its gender .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Luca Matta : The passion and the desire to see my ideas realized. There are thousands of them that I left on the paper without having made! .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Luca Matta : Good question ..... if I knew I would have already presented my projects to some company .... .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Luca Matta : Infinity doesn’t mean just that you can create countless shapes and differents from other shapes, but above all Infinity means to create together with people, participate and collaborate with people who maybe doesn’t know anything about the design .... but at the end the design has a purpose in society, even if you do not think, and that is to know and respect each other despite being different. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Luca Matta : I am one of those "of the middle generation", so I use paper and pencil and then the personal computer. I still can not design without going through the paper ... .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Luca Matta : You already know by now that the functionality and the esthetic aspect are the foundations of this discipline, but for me the game and the interaction between people is a very important thing, so I'd like to analyze this concept very well ... if they give me the chance to do it! .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. Luca Matta : The "brick" light uses LED technology, which is now well established in the market for over 8 years. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Luca Matta : I love a great movie, which ultimately is a classic, but it made me feel strong emotions especially at the beginning: 2001 Space Odyssey. This movie represents our history and belongs to us as the human race. The trigger element is obviously the monolith, for me is that our brick, our civilization, our history, our progress. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Luca Matta : I can’t worth wasting, imagine if every person in the world throw themselves away; what a pity, it would be a sad world and repressed. If someone feels he has the qualities and the ideas must do everything to achieve them .... .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Luca Matta : I will learn more when, hopefully, this product will be implemented. .
